Black Road, Black Road, What Do You See?

Inspired by Jessica's post, I wanted to make a new flannelboard to freshen up our transportation storytime tub. I used our Ellison machine to cut out the cars and road.  Black Road, Black Road, What Do You See?
Black road, black road, what do you see?
I see a red car looking at me! Red car, red car, what do you see?
I see a blue car looking at me! (repeat with other colors) Colorful cars, colorful cars, what do you see?
Children and their families, that’s what we see!

Little Bird, Are You in the Green Tree

I made a felt version of Little Bird, Are You in the Green Tree (originally created by my good friend Mel). I used 3 different Ellison dies to create this project: XL Tree, 8 inch circle, and a bird.  I did make more than 3 trees, I just could only fit three on my demonstration felt board for the photo. I made red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. It's easier to tell the yellow and orange apart in person.

This feltboard will be going in our fall storytime tub. I think it will pair nicely with Fall is Not Easy by Marty Kelley.

Dragon Egg Prop Story

For our new Fairy Tales storytime tub debuting this summer, I paired two objects collecting dust (a Hatchimals Egg and a stuffed dragon) to adapt the early reader Dragon Egg by Mallory Loehr for storytime.

Basically I just tell the story while acting it out with the egg and then the baby dragon pops out at the end.

Bear Color Sorting Activity

Hand out the colored bears to the children.

Roll the colored bear die (or call out a color). Have the children with that color bear, come up to the front and place the bears in the matching color cup.
Please note: Product Packaging indicates that this activity is for ages 3+.
