Mood Board Monday

I'm introducing a new feature today called Mood Board Mondays. I plan to post a mood board once or twice a month with ideas for fun things for your youth department. For the first one, I'm presenting an all IKEA mood board crammed full with fun ideas for a children's department. I hope you like it! It was my first time making one, so I hope to improve in the future.

1. IKEA PS LĂ–MSK Swivel chair  $79.99* Perfect for the budding evil genius in your life.
2. SKOJIG Pendant lamp blue Reminds me of vintage Nintendo games.
3. Mammut children's table    $39.99 Would be so easy to clean and comes in multiple color options.
4. MAMMUT children's stool $7.99 IKEA also sells MAMMUT children's chairs for $14.99 each--I'd get two chairs and two stools of varying colors for a perfect art table
5. LEKPLATS play mat   $14.99 I have bought the stuff to DIY my own but it would probably have been cheaper to just buy this one.
6. DUKTIG 14-piece vegetables set  $7.99 Love these!
7. EKORRE rocking moose  $39.99 This just makes me happy.
8. KUSINER mesh hamper  $4.99  Great storage idea for toys and puppets.
9. BUSA play tunnel  $14.99 Fun post-storytime play option

*All prices U.S. dollars.

I've written about my love for IKEA before, and just so you know I was not paid or given anything for this or any other post.

I'm also going to be starting another recurring feature that I'm calling Library Crashing. I plan to visit (in person and virtually) real youth departments and share some of the great ideas that other libraries have implemented. If you're interested in me crashing your library, please email me. I'd love to be able to travel the world for this project, but I have an expired passport I'm pretty limited in travel funds and will be keeping physical visits to libraries in Michigan (and possibly Chicagoland as well).

  1. Nice! What program did you use to make your mood board image?

  2. I am cheap and used http://www.olioboard.com/ for the pictures and picnik.com for the numbers (both are free and only the first requires an account).
